Born of a need
For companies engaged in foreign trade, the place where they lose the most time and energy is often not customs, but the doors of official institutions. The legislation is complex and the authorities are many; every delay translates directly into a cost to trade.
Our founder, Burcu Açmaz, experienced this bottleneck from within foreign trade for years. Her background in chemical engineering made it easier to read technical and regulatory requirements, while her years in the sector showed her firsthand how much companies value speed and predictability. The need she saw was clear: a bridge between the private sector and official institutions — one that speaks the language of both.
UBC was founded in 2013 to fill precisely that gap. Today, from surveillance documents to investment incentives, from foreign-personnel work permits to certificates of origin, we manage the bureaucratic steps of foreign trade on behalf of our clients. Founder
A graduate of Ankara University’s Department of Chemical Engineering, Burcu Açmaz brings 23 years of experience in foreign trade and regulatory affairs. She combines engineering discipline with in-depth knowledge of regulatory processes, and has led the team as founder of UBC Consulting for 13 years. Over the course of her career, Açmaz has completed more than 10,000 procedures and guided over 800 companies through their foreign-trade processes.
